Prototyping requires a written scope of work and a consultation. Consultations for the process are usually lengthy and require a fee of $35/hr to be billed as part of the design phase. The total cost will vary from project to project depending on size and time so good communication is key to a smooth finish.
Each prototyping project will vary depending where you are with your design; whether it lives in your head or if you managed to piece a model out of household items we will begin at your beginning. We will gladly sign a non-disclosure agreement to keep any project private if you so choose.
Our prototype process typically includes:
Design Phase- Billed at an hourly rate- Design expectation are fleshed out with sketches and dimensions.
Research/Sourcing Phase- Billed at an hourly rate- All materials, hardware, methods etc are "found" and are ordered or purchased during this phase.
Build Phase- During this phase all the ingredients come together to build the first sample of your prototype. This phase is billed as a single cost agreed upon at the end of the design phase.
Approval & Revisions- After receiving your first sample you will review it and make any revisions. One round of revisions is included in the process. Additional revisions will incur additional cost.
Deliverables Include:
Physical prototypesAny original sketches or paper work
Optional Document Package which includes materials cut list, manufacturing instructions and dimensioned layouts.
*If your project qualifies it may be produced in our small batch sewing room*
